Requirements and specs for USB flash drives (USB sticks)

LineGrip Knowledge-Base:

Only OTG capable flash drives (all drives with Micro-USB connector are OTG) are compatible with the LS3.
The drive must have one partition with max. 4GB, formatted with the FAT32 file system.
When using a “standard” flash drive (with USB2 connector) an optional OTG-Cable (Micro USB to USB2 adapter) may be used to connect it to the LS3.

Note: not all USB controller chips offer the same performance!
After testing countless flash drives we have found that drives equipped with the Chipsbank CBM2199E chip offer the best performance.
Therefore the original LS3-drive is equipped with the CBM2199E chip, which guarantees the best possible upload speed available.
Other drives with different chips may slow upload down to 20% of the max possible speed (upload may take up to 5x longer)!
