Downloading (uploading) LOG files

The easiest way to download the onboard logs is to plug in a flash drive in the top (master) port.
Note: more appropriately it should say “Upload the logs (to flash drive)” because the flash drive does not download them, the LS3 uploads them to the drive 😉

Once a correctly formatted flash drive is plugged in the LS3 will look for a folder named like the LS3’s serial number (e.g. the device AA:BB:CC will look for a root folder LSAABBCC). If not found it will create such a folder. Next it will look for a folder named by the date of the oldest log (e.g. for logs from April 30th 2025 it will look for the folder 30_04_25). If not found it will create one. In this folder the first log is saved, named after it’s recording start time (e.g. logging started on 12:30:55 the file will be named 12_30_55.CSV).
Thereafter the LS3 will proceed in the same way for all other stored logs.

Upload of logs to the flash drive can be aborted by pressing the PWR button on the upload screen. The LS3 will finish the current file, and then return to the home screen. Note: Just pulling the flash drive during upload may currupt the drive’s file structure!
Note: it is not possible to upload only the new logs since the last upload to USB drive, or only specific logs. Each upload cycle will always upload ALL stored logs, and overwrite files of the same device, same date, and same start time.

Upload duration:
• uploading a full log memory of 100 logs (63 hours) to the USB flash drive takes about 90 minutes
• uploading one full log (32+6 minutes @ 10Hz, or 15+3 sec @ 1280Hz, etc.) takes about 55 seconds
Note that the type of USB I/O-chip on the flash drive makes a significant difference in upload speed!

One flash drive can be used for multiple LineScales because each will add it’s own folder.
Note that an upload of one full size 1280Hz log to USB drive will take about one minute! Therefore uploading a full log cache of 100 full size logs will take near to 2h in total!
There is another, faster way to download the logs but this is an option for PC cracks only, for it includes installing UART drivers, and Python scripts on the PC.
